All three of these ethics statements stood out to me. All speak about seeing the child as a unique individual and treating them with respect no matter what. I believe very strongly in these statements. Each child needs to be treated as an individual and this should be the belief every time a child walks through your door. It shouldn't matter if he/she has special needs or even if an older sibling was the ideal student. Too many times teachers don't look at each child as an individual and have previous notions from other experiences.
Sarah, I chose two of the same ideals as you did. Respect and honor are so essential, aren’t they? Your point about the individuality of each child is a good one. We shouldn’t compare any child to a sibling or make assumptions based on the past. Thank you for reminding me about something so important! -Susan
ReplyDeleteIt is so very important to me for people to respect the value of the individual. Especially when it comes to those with disabilities, this concept is vital. There should be no biased or discrimination because they are different in appearance or learning ability. We are all still human, we all have a heart that we should learn to use properly towards other human beings.
ReplyDeleteSarah,
ReplyDeleteThose are 3 great statements regarding respecting the uniqueness of each and every child. I also chose one that states the same education for all children, disabilities or not. Each child that you come in contact with should all be treated equally without bias or discrimination.
Sarah, I have been glad to work with you as a colleague and classmate as we progressed through this course. Your perspective as a kindergarten teacher has been helpful for me, and I am grateful for your work to help administrators see things from teachers’ point of view. You also have recently begun the beautiful journey of parenthood, and I’m sure this will enrich your work as a teacher too. I am looking forward to learning more from you and hope our paths cross again as we pursue a specialization in Teaching and Diversity in Early Childhood Education. -Susan
